1. The "4 Stars" Tendon
The name comes from the specific urethane tendon used in the joint. It is widely considered a premium upgrade over standard generic tendons.
Material: High-grade black urethane, treated for maximum UV resistance.
Performance: It is rated "4 Stars" for its balance of rigidity and durability. It provides a very stiff, direct connection between the sail and board, which is essential for high-speed slalom or precise wave riding.
Dimensions: It typically uses the standard 20mm diameter with 6mm holes, making it compatible with most high-end bases (including Streamlined or Chinook).
2. The "Strong Base" EU Plate
The "4 Stars" tendon is usually mounted on Dynafiber’s Strong Base chassis:
Monoblock Top: The Euro Pin is part of a solid stainless steel head. This prevents the pin from wobbling or snapping under the high leverage of modern wide-body boards.
Ergonomic Base: The plate has four distinct "finger grips" (sometimes called the "star" shape) that allow you to tighten the base into your board's track with significant leverage without needing a tool.
Low Profile: Like the Streamlined bases we discussed, this model is designed to sit low on the deck to "close the gap" and improve sail efficiency.

4. Why choose the "4 Stars" over a standard base?
Longevity: The 4-star urethane is formulated to resist "cracking" at the bolt holes longer than cheaper clear or colored tendons.
Directness: If you feel your current board is "mushy" or slow to react, switching to a 4-star tendon base will make the rig feel significantly more responsive.
Reliability: It is the "workhorse" model often used by heavy sailors or those in high-wind areas like Karpathos or Tarifa.
Maintenance Tip: Even though it’s a "4 Star" product, you should still check the holes of the tendon for ovalization (stretching) once a season. If the holes aren't perfectly round anymore, it’s time to swap the tendon.
