The Streamlined Carbon Boom is widely regarded as one of the most high-performance and durable booms on the market. While most carbon booms rely on plastic components for the head and tail, Streamlined sticks to its philosophy of minimalist, all-metal engineering.
Here is the technical breakdown of the Streamlined Carbon Boom
The heart of this boom is the Streamlined Dyneema Boom Head.
Full Metal: Machined from 5083 aluminum. Unlike plastic heads, it has zero flex, ensuring that 100% of your sail's power is transmitted to the board.
Dyneema Loop System: It uses two high-strength Dyneema rope loops to clamp the mast. This provides a "bomb-proof" grip that won't slip, even in the heaviest wipeouts.
Safety: The dual-loop system means if one rope were to fail (highly unlikely), the second one keeps the boom attached to the mast.
100% Pre-preg Carbon: The body is a monocoque (one-piece) construction using high-grade pre-preg carbon for the best weight-to-stiffness ratio.
Slim Diameter: Most modern versions feature a 25mm grip diameter (often called "Skinny" or "Slim"). This reduces forearm fatigue and is much more comfortable for long sessions or maneuvers.
New School Curve: The bend of the arms is designed to keep your wrists in a natural position, reducing the risk of carpal tunnel strain and improving handling.
True to the "Streamlined" name, the tail is stripped of all unnecessary bulk.
No Plastic Pulley Blocks: The outhaul rope is often threaded directly through reinforced holes in the carbon tail.
Weight Reduction: By removing heavy plastic moldings at the back, the boom feels significantly lighter in the hands, especially during transitions like jibes or aerials.
4:1 Outhaul: Despite its simplicity, the tail is designed for a powerful 4:1 outhaul ratio, allowing for easy trimming under load.
You want it to last forever: Carbon tubes rarely fail, and since the head is aluminum, you don't have to worry about plastic parts cracking or "creaking" over time.
You want the stiffest feel: If you find other carbon booms feel a bit "soft" or "mushy" at the mast connection, the Streamlined Alu head will fix that instantly.
Repairability: Every single part—from the Dyneema ropes to the adjustment clips—is replaceable and sold as a spare part.
